Does anyone know how to find the file which contains your address book for e-mail?

Getting ready to move info to new computer, and need to back up my favorites (bookmarks) and e-mail address book.

Does anyone know how to find the file which contains your address book for e-mail?
use the migration tool from windows xp. start | accessories | system tools | files and settings transfer wizard.

The address book will be a .wab file. The favourites will be in c:\documents and settings\username\favorites folder

You may have to turn on show hidden files and show protected files.
Reply:Start a search, chose "all files and folders" and type "address", this will give you the path to your address book. You can repeat the search for "favorites".
Reply:Without knowing which e-mail client your using this would be quite a feat. An alternative would be to open your e-mail client, click "File" on the menu bar and look for some sort of "export" sub menu. Most e-mail clients allow you to export your data to a file which you can save on your desktop or where ever you like and then import it after you set up your new computer. The same procedure will also work with your favorites. Good Luck.

Best to start by cleaning up your PC.

Download Ccleaner from Ccleaner.com. This will remove all the junk from your hard drive (its safe I use it regularly).

Next De-fragment the drive. Go to start/my computer and select the C drive, right click and select defrag.

Once all that is done check your e-mail again. It should be much improved.

Any message they send you will be deleted immediately (not sent back to them)---you'll never see them---AND NO notice is ever sent to them.

Reply:It's a con, scam and don't fall for it. I get at least one of those per day but I used to get as many as 10 or more a day. Don't fall for it, just delete it and forget it.

For webmail, your location can't be identified unless you put in the correct information (which i never do).

Everywhere you go, your IP is recorded, even for webmail, so if something SERIOUS was done (like threatening a government official) you *could* be tracked down. It would have to be a serious offense for anyone to work that hard to find out who you are.

If it's email through your ISP, then you're far easier to locate.

If you are using Yahoo's free e-mail, you can't. It is not a feature in Yahoo mail. There are other e-mail programs that let you do this, but Yahoo Mail does not.

Don't think you can insert a picture in the body of an e-mail message yet. Looks like you will have to send as an attachment.

Virus's are not the well thought out because they only goal is to destroy your computer and steal information. Just put up firewall or program computer to shut down and close information when it see unknown codes. All this make less chance of your computer crashing but it still can use codes that pcs use. I want them to be able to contribute posts... but not be able to see the e-mail addresses displayed on the comment sections. (I want anyne who wants to be to be able to contribute posts, but this would mean as it stands now that anyone also has access to e-mail addresses of everyone who left comments). I don't think there is a plugin that will do this. You could try the role manager, which might do it, but it might be overkill.

Alternatively, you can hack it manually.

Find line 163 of edit-comments.php in wp-admin. You can edit out the %26lt;?php comment_author_email_link() ?%26gt; bit if you want. That will prevent anyone from seeing the email address. If you (or users) still should be able to see it, then you will need a bit more logic, using the Wordpress user manager functions.

On Outlook you can, select options then check the boxes 'request read receipt, or request delivery receipt'

One will tell you it had been delivery successfully and the other tells you when the email has been opened by the recipient

Reply:If you use Microsoft Outlook, you can add an option to have a read/delivery receipt. You can do this by going into Tools, Options, E-mail Options, Tracking Options, then there are two tick boxes - one for a Read Receipt and one for a Delivery Receipt. The only issue you may find with this is that the recipient may not send the receipt back even if they do receive the email.

If you are emailing in yahoo there is a place that says abc. Click on that. It will perform a spell check. For the other answer redo your profile page for that section it should correct it. If not contact yahoo assistance they should and are paid to fix that problem.

If you use BCC, the names will not show up to anyone..The person who receives your email, will only see your name on it..Then when they receive your email, it will say, to undisclosed receipients..Hope this helps..Do not use to- or cc, just BCC..Good Luck..

As far as finding someone's email ... that will be a little tricky. Some people don't associate their real names with their accounts, thus being harder to track. Good luck and if all else fails, try a fresh install of your operating system.

Well, it would be helpful to say which e-mail system you are using, ie Yahoo or G-mail or outlook express. Most online email, you just got to the website, put in your password and username, and then see your email. However, if you are using an email provider such as outlook express, just open the program, and it should be there.

I'm assuming they are sending you emails with a fake email address? You would have to contact your email provider and get them to run a tracert ( traceroute ) to make sure you even have the right IP address and that still won't give you their personal email address as they are using a program and not say a normal email provider. But once they find out where the emails are coming from then you can complain to their service provider. Honestly ive done it before,but i telneted into a shell account on the web so you couldn't even get my IP unless you went deep and got the ISP or FBI involved.
Reply:Received: headers are sometimes helpful, but spammers and hackers can add extra headers to confuse you. The geo location tools recommended in other answers will help locate what city that IP address comes from.

However, unless the e-mail came from your work or school, it is unlikely anything can or will be done about harassing e-mail. The cost of tracking down the offender and the likelihood of proving who sent it is too expensive and nearly impossible. Just because you can prove what computer an e-mail message came from does not mean you can prove who was behind the keyboard sending that message.

Click on view full headers on yahoo email find the xoriginating ip or received from ip. That's how you find the ip address and trace it. Reply:Im afraid not, unless the user has their own mail server, then you will be able to trace.

If you use hotmail or gmail to send an email it will be their IP not yours. The person sending's IP will be stored in the email account suppliers logs.

Ok, I have been dealing with this problem for YEARS. So hear's how your do it: First, you open up your NOTEPAD, and you write your entire email in there, get used to it, because it is the only way to overcome this problem. Secondly, once you've edited your email to your liking, you copy and paste it into yahoo email or whatever email is giving you trouble. Just remember, unless your email is going to be a one-liner, START with notepad, then copy and paste into the actual Yahoo email page..... got it? that is the only way that I have found to get around it... I know, it's a hassle, but for one thing - I have given you the correct answer, so award me the correct answer too! Don't bother. Suspensions are random, and most likely because you're popular. Even people who Do get their accounts back, are usually suspended AGAIN a couple days later after all their effort. I've had two high level accounts suspended in a row. At first it is shattering, an identity crisis. Lots of people are having this problem in Yahoo mail. Works OK in answers and all other programmes. I have found it seems to be like a lag thing. If I type real slow it seems to be OK. Give it a try.

I had the same problem with yahoo NEW email..but when I switched back to Yahoo Classic email the problem solved itself. I think its the email programs problem, so try switching email and see if it works.

When I try to access my other Yahoo e-mail address, the page opens in Japanese! How do I revert to English?

Whenever I try to go to my inbox, after typing in my name and password, the Inbox page is now displayed in Japanese or another Eastern language (Chinese, Korean)! This started happening about 2 weeks ago. I can read my e-mail because I'm used to the symbols and layout, but I can't do anything more complicated since everything is in Japanese. How do I change back to English and why did this happen?

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I have been advised to use this site to view my mail, www.mail2web.com if all else fails go back to classic mail via this link. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?s... click yes when asked do you want to opt out. go to "View" on the top where there is "File, Edit" and go to text size and choose what size you want...hope that works!
